“The Last Sitting” - Bert Stern Tribute

Renowned for his fashion and celebrity photography, Bert Stern helped define the visual style of the 1960s.

That being said, few photographic sessions have become as legendary as Bert Stern’s The Last Sitting with Marilyn Monroe in 1962. Created just weeks before her death, the images have become some of the most recognisable portraits in photographic history. Celebrated for their intimacy, elegance and vulnerability, I believe they still remain among the most compelling portraits ever made.

Rather than attempting to recreate those iconic photographs, this series is an homage to the mood and spirit of Stern's work. Inspired by the simplicity of the original session, we wanted to explore the timeless beauty of minimal styling, soft light and authentic emotions.

Like Stern's portraits, these images embrace the power of simplicity—proving that the most compelling photographs often come from the connection between photographer and subject.

This collection is my way of acknowledging one of photography's most influential portrait sessions while creating something that stands as its own work.

A huge thank you to my wonderful friend Lexi. Somebody who not only looks a bit like Marilyn, but has the same respect for her as I do.
