Simply Red @ The Royal Theatre

Mick Hucknall of Simply Red.
(It May not be the sharpest of photos, but this one is the quintessential "Simply Red" pose.)
Tonight I had the opportunity to shoot one of the earliest bands I can remember listening to; "Simply Red". The concert was on at the Royal Theatre.
It was the usual 2 song, no flash rule, however this time I was shooting from "on stage" off to one side. This was a first and provided a great spot to take some great photos. Amazingly I was the only photographer there for some strange reason. I would have at least expected maybe somebody from The Canberra Times to be there.
"Maddy" - Impromtu Photoshoot #1
I was talking to my friend Maddy the other day and she thought of the interesting idea to do some "Impromptu photoshoots". Basically the idea is this: Either of us can decide to do a photoshoot at any time and, if we are both free, we will choose a spot and go take some photos.
Today we did such a shoot. I messaged her in the afternoon and we met up in Glebe Park to take some photos. We then ended up going for a drive to Belconnen to take a few more near the lake. It was a lot of fun and we managed to get some great photos.

"Australia Day LIVE -2009"
Natalie Bassingthwaighte
Lovers Electric
Yesterday I shot for FasterLouder with Paddy at the "Australia Day Live" Concert in between the Old & New Parliament House's. The concert wasn't as good in my opinion as previous years but the lineup was definately varied;
Trial Kennedy, Lovers Electric, Jessica Mauboy, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Dan Kelly & The Ukeladies, Wendy Matthews, Gurrumul, Brian Cadd and John Schumann & The Vagabond Crew.
The highlight for me was actually getting to take photos of Wendy Matthews, as daggy as that sounds. She was great and definately somebody I never thought I would get to shoot.
"Clare" - Headshots
Today I took some simple headshot photographs for my friend Clare. This was the first time I have taken photos with the express purpose to get headshots. Clare was very happy with how they all turned out and will be using them in her portfolio for theatre work.

"Grace" - Photoshoot

A smiling Grace on top of Mt Ainslie

I did a bit of post processing on this photo to make it look a bit different. I think it works really well.

A photo using my 430EX off to camera right pointing up.

Today I had another photoshoot with one of my favourite people, Grace. This time we went to a few different places and it was also my first attempt at taking photos with remote flash. As always, she looked fantastic. Here are three of the photos.
"Lila" - Photoshoot

Today I had a fun afternoon shooting with my friend Lila. We took photos at the Carillion and Glebe Park. (A location that is becoming a favourite of mine).
Lila looked great wearing a stunning silk dress that she will be wearing to a wedding soon.
I will post more of the photos soon.
"Grace and Maddy" - Photoshoot

Today I had another photoshoot with Grace. This time, Maddy, her friend from overseas joined us. We took photos in Glebe Park, various spots around Civic and at the Museum of Australia.
The girls did a great job posing on such a hot day, we managed to get some great photos.
"Dani" - Photoshoot

Today I had a photoshoot with my friend Dani who was in town for the Christmas holidays. We had a really fun morning shooting around Belconnen. It was the most fun I have had on a photoshoot so far. We took some simple shots and also some more crazy ones around the place.
Foreshore 2008

The Foreshore crowd enjoys The Presets as the rain begins.
Now in it's second year, The Foreshore music festival was even bigger with three stages and acts such as PNAU, The Dukes of Windsor and The Presets.
