An Irving Klaw Tribute

Inspired by the work of Irving Klaw, this themed photoshoot pays homage to one of the most recognisable styles of mid-century photography.

During the 1940s and 1950s, Klaw produced a series of iconic images featuring glamour, pin-up, and rope bondage, with dramatic lighting, carefully staged poses, and bold, theatrical compositions.

This series draws inspiration from that distinctive visual style while presenting it through a modern photographic lens. The focus was on recreating the atmosphere, styling, and craftsmanship of the era rather than replicating specific images, with an emphasis on expressive portraiture, vintage aesthetics, and the collaborative artistry between photographer and models.

As with all of my themed projects, this shoot was carefully planned and created in a safe, respectful, and fully consensual environment, celebrating an influential chapter in photographic history while giving it a contemporary interpretation.
